My degree and PGCE were at Cambridge University where I was also an organ scholar. I then taught Latin and Greek for over 20 years in secondary and prep schools in Exeter, London and Sussex. I had a career break when my children were young and took them around Scandinavia in a campervan.

When I was teaching in prep schools, I tutored individual students for scholarship exams to all the main senior schools in the South East including Winchester, Brighton College, Tonbridge, Harrow, King’s Canterbury, Eton, Eastbourne, Ardingly and Hurstpierpoint.

In London and Exeter I was Head of Classics in secondary schools and prepared students for successful applications to top universities including Oxbridge. The departments flourished and numbers increased while I was in charge. My pupils enjoy my lessons and often tell me Latin is their favourite subject.

I have moved to full-time tutoring to see more of my three children and set up my second business of chainsawing and garden maintenance.
